Wearing My Queasy Beads During the Holidays
It's been a hectic holiday week! I'm finding I've been wearing a pair of Queasy Beads every day just to help calm my stomach from all the excitement! (Not to mention they've been a lifesaver when I've had too many Christmas cookies or holiday snacks). Looking forward to designing a new pair to wear on New Year's Eve! :)

How do Queasy Beads work?
Many people are wondering....How do Queasy Beads work? So, I thought I would share...
Queasy Beads bracelets are designed to work by using acupressure.
http://www.livestrong.com defines acupressure as a "technique in traditional Chinese medicine that focuses on relieving pain, tension and providing relief of other symptoms through strategic pressure placed on different points on the body. Acupressure uses theories and practices similar to those used in acupuncture, but acupressure does not involve needles."
When you wear Queasy Beads, the large bead on both bracelets applies light pressure to the P-6 acupressure point on our inner wrists. This is the point that, when stimulated, sends signals to your brain to ease your nausea symptoms.
Photos I wanted to add here won't upload right now :( but I do explain it in more detail on my website at http://www.queasybeads.com - just click on "What are Queasy Beads?"
There are other acupressure wristbands out there, but the beauty of Queasy Beads bracelets is that they not only help with nausea/queasy symptoms, they are fashionable accessories, too!

How to measure wrist for Queasy Beads
People have been asking, so I thought I'd add an image on the easiest way to measure your wrists for Queasy Beads:
If you don't have a flexible measuring tape like this one, another easy way to measure is to wrap a piece of string or yarn around your wrist, mark it, then use a straight ruler to measure the string. It's that easy!

Queasy stomach from the heat
Today it's nice and cool outside but now that summer is here and we've had some really hot days, I find I'm wearing my Queasy Beads bracelets more often. They really help settle my queasy stomach when I start feeling nauseous from the heat.

Queasy Beads prevents my son's post-op nausea
My son just had his four impacted wisdom teeth extracted last week. I was so nervous because I have heard all kinds of horror stories about kids getting sick after waking up from anesthesia. So, I had him wear his Queasy Beads before, during and after his surgery. They really worked! He said his stomach never felt queasy, not even once. He wore them the whole day, until he went to bed, and didn't get nauseous even after taking his meds. I was so relieved! He never got sick! Looks a little like a chipmunk with his swollen cheeks but he feels fine.....phew!

Where did the idea for Queasy Beads come from?
I created Queasy Beads because I wanted to wear a pair of acupressure bracelets that worked but also looked stylish. Here's my story.....
A little over 4 years ago, I had a terrible migraine headache with worse stomach nausea. I was miserable. I couldn't take anything because any meds would only make me feel more nauseous, so I was just suffering thru the migraine and the nausea. That day, my cousin was in town from NJ for a wedding close to where I live. As soon as she came to visit, she knew something was up. I told her how terrible I was feeling and she literally put me in her car and drove me to the drug store where she bought me a pair of acupressure wristbands to help with my upset stomach. She told me they should work but all I could think was -- what are these ugly things??? Well, I put them on and WOW -- within 15 minutes my nausea was gone. Really gone. I could not believe it. Where had these magical bands been all my life? I still had my migraine but at least I didn't feel like I was going to throw up. So, right away I was hooked on how acupressure could relieve stomach nausea. I had to learn more. To this day, I find it ironic that my cousin is also my Godmother or, should I say, Fairy Godmother :)
The next day I was still wearing the wristbands. I still had a slight migraine but I really was feeling no nausea. Yay. The only thing was....I was really getting sick of looking at these ugly wristbands that were making me feel better. They looked like wristbands from the 80's. Yuk. Now, if I may go back in time a few (30 -- has it actually been that long???? years), I took fashion design in college so I thought, "Why can't I just design a pair of stylish wristbands that can do the same thing?" Genius. So, after researching how acupressure on our wrists can help relieve stomach nausea, I went to work and created a pair of really cute bracelets that worked just as well as the aforementioned "ugly" wristbands. I was thrilled because I felt better and I looked better, too.
Then, one day my husband said, "You know, you wear your bracelets all the time....maybe there are other women out there that can benefit from wearing them, too." That's all it took and I went to work creating several pairs for my friends to try. They loved them. No more ugly wristbands to help us feel better!
Queasy Beads are designed with beads placed strategically to give the best benefit for nausea relief. My son, Clayton, actually helped me name them. One day when I was feeling queasy, I asked him to please get my beaded bracelets from my jewelry box and he said, "Feeling queasy, Mom?" I said, "Yes, I am and I need my beads" and the name Queasy Beads was born. Out of the mouths of babes......

How do acupressure bracelets work?
They work by stimulating the acupressure points on our inner arms...3 finger-widths down from our inner wrists. When we apply pressure to these points, our nerve system is activated and our brain releases certain chemicals aka neurotransmitters (the ones that make us feel good like serotonin or endorphins). These then block the signals our brain is receiving from the other chemicals that are making us feel nauseous.
